 Lived and worked in Japan for over 25 years and assisted multi-national enterprises as well as SMEs in numerous cross border transactions between Europe and Japan across several industries with Mergers & Acquisitions and other large transactions.

 

He has been participating in the management of leading international law firms in Tokyo as equity partner since 1998. Registered German lawyer and register in Japan as Attorney at Foreign Law.

Landmark Transactions

  • Ongoing Renewable Energy projects exceeding 1 GW and total investment of over 300 billion JPY (including Japan’s largest Solar Power project of 480 MW)

  • Currently representing three cross-border M&A transactions, thereof 2 acquisitions of listed companies (outbound and inbound)

  • Major German SME acquiring 2/3 of a Japanese SME with pioneer model of multidimensional governance 

  • Wilhelm Karmann GmbH greenfield establishment of Japanese oper-ations followed by sale to Magna during insolvency of parent company

  • Acquisition of  US nanotechnology company by Japanese technology group; negotiated global cooperation agreement with German partner

  • Merck acquisition of generic maker Mohan and later divestment of same; buy out of JV with Kanto Chemical and  divestment of partici-pation

  • General counsel of Mercedes Benz Finance for over 8 years, including establishment of floor plans

  • Spin-off Audi Japan from VW Japan into formerly listed dealership (JAXX) taken private

  • Reorganize JV of VW Finance changing Nippon Shinpan to service provider

  • Bosch acquisition of Zexel
